I spotted this butterfly in my garden. It looked like a huge butterfly over the lovely white hydrangea blooms. I am not a Lepidopterist. But when I searched on Google images, I found this wiki page telling me that this is a Papilio glaucus, the eastern tiger swallowtail, which is a species of butterfly native to eastern North America.
I had seen smaller butterflies in my garden, I posted some videos in this blog post. But this Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly was larger, it was visible from a distance, and was still, clinging and busy enjoying the hydrangea flower. We noticed it from our patio, while sipping coffee during the long weekend. Now that is a fun morning with nature. These are some simple joys of having a garden, some little things, and nature perks that I get to observe and enjoy without even expecting them.
